Who is Ted Stanley?

While it has never been easy for me to talk about myself, I know it’s important to you to know who I am. I hope to give you a basic overview of who I am and why you should vote for me in this election.

My wife and I moved to The Woodlands 10 years ago and have lived in the village of College Park for the entire time. We love The Woodlands for all the reasons most of you do. It is my intention, once elected to this board, to maintain that beauty and to maintain the integrity of what we all consider so important.

I am originally from Louisiana where I grew up in a small town. I moved with my job at the time to Tucson, AZ where I met my future wife and we moved here to The Woodlands and were married at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church, The Woodlands.

Our son attended high school and college here and our daughter, who now lives in Kentucky, attend college here as well. Jon, our son, considers himself a true Highlander since he spent most of his life here in The Woodlands.

My work background includes 30 plus years in the banking and securities industry. I am currently a financial advisor providing my clients guidance on retirement planning, college education planning, wealth management, and over all financial guidance.

I have an accounting degree and spent several years as a controller of an oilfield related business in Louisiana. My banking career includes many roles in the banking field including commercial lending, credit analysis and branch management. As a financial advisor I hold the necessary securities licenses and insurance licenses to accommodate my clients’ needs. As a Registered Investment Advisor I am licensed to prepare and implement financial plans for my clients.

Throughout my life I have always been involved in my community; I have been a member of and served on many boards and community organizations, both civic and charity. I have served with The American Heart Association, the Kiwanis Clubs, St. Mary Outreach (local food pantry), and Chamber of Commerce board. I have taught youth CCD at my church, and was a lay Eucharistic minister to the sick. I served on The Woodland Association Board of Directors for over five years, on the College Park Village Association board for 2 years, and I am currently the President of The Woodlands Recreation Center Board of Directors (until June, 2010).

My wife, Johanne and I are avid movie goers and love to travel. We enjoy spending time with our neighbors and friends. Johanne has a gift basket business with several regular clients here in The Woodlands. My son, Jon, currently works here as well and is the consummate man about town. Michelle, our daughter lives and works in Kentucky where she attended college and is a Visual Display Manager for a national retailer.

My ultimate reason for entering this race is to fulfill my strong desire to serve my community. Family is the most important aspect of my life and I want to do what I can to ensure that our community is the best that it can be for all families.

My accounting degree and financial background will help with budget matters, my experience on Woodlands boards gives me the depth of understanding necessary to be an effective board member in our unique community, my long history of commitment to community demonstrates my sincerity in my desire to serve and my faith gives me strength to face challenges with the knowledge that there is an outcome suitable to all.
